| History |
Family- Jacob comes from a middle class family in London. His mother, Monica Lucy, was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She moved to England when she was 17. Two months after moving into the new flat, her roommate left the stove on, catching the room on fire. Unfortunately, the flat would take a while to fix. She did meet a fire fighter named Edgar. Edgar came from a lower class family in London. He, just like the rest of the males in his family, was a firefighter. It took only two months for Edgar and Monica to start dating and a year after that for them to become married. Two years into the marriage, Jacob was born.
Jacob Edgar Darney was born on April 20 in London. He was a premature baby and his mother had some complications, causing the underweight child to stay in the hospital for an extra two weeks. By the time he came home, Jacob’s Cousin Alan had been born and was brought back to the house. He was raised in a very tight knit family, having his grandparents on one side and his aunt and uncle on the other. The three-story, faded yellow buildings held a large number of small families, and most of them had been living there all their lives.
For the first few years, the main language Jacob heard was Portuguese. His mother had been the reason why Edgar learned Portuguese. Jacob’s speaking ability was great for a two year old but he could not understand or speak a word of English beyond greeting someone. Monica knew that was a bad sign and decided she needed to enroll him into her school that she started teaching at three years before. At the age of two and a half, Jacob was enrolled in the prep school in hopes that he would be able to learn English before he started full classes at the age of five.
In the school, he was quite, just as he had been as a child. Most of the toddlers were loud and cried a lot, but Jacob was quiet. Most of the times, he stayed away from the louder groups and played with his blocks. It took most of the first year for the boy to get close to the people that worked there. By the time he was four, the boy had a decent handle on understanding and speaking English. The next year he was enrolled in the actual prep school’s classes along with his cousin Alan.
Despite the constant interaction between the quiet Jacob and his energetic and mischievous cousin, the boy did not change his personality. He was teased a lot for being on of the smaller boys in the school and his unusual accent (mixing Brazilian and Cockney) did not help the situation either. His only redeeming quality was during recess when the students would play cricket or football. He was a fast runner with good footwork.
He remained small compared to most of his class for a while but he became known for being the nice boy. He was not a genius in academics but he tried his best. Teachers liked him for that. His cousin Alan, who was already towering over most of the class, was relieved of his guard duty. The boy had no signs of his wizarding ability until he was eight. The events were not noticeable for another year. His family did a decent job in keeping it quiet, even from his grandparents. When he received his invitation to Hogwarts, it was impossible for his family not to know.
Feeling a little out of place, the boy went to Diagon Alley and felt overwhelmed. Jacob was uncomfortable with being around people he did not know and stayed that way through most of his first year. He was sorted into Hufflepuff seconds after the Sorting Hat was placed on his head. He struggled with every class except Flying Lessons- it looked as if that would be his only strong point.
The next year two openings came up on the Hufflepuff Quidditch team and naturally, Jakie tried out. He was told to try out another day because the team wanted a bigger person for the open Beater position. The boy returned and placed on the team as the Seeker position and though it was not his favorite, it was still a chance to play. Second year was proving to be a bigger challenge to the boy as well since it was time to be more social. It was not until his third year that Jake developed any ability to communicate with the people in his house.
In the middle of the same year, Jake went from standing at a mere 5’4” to 5’9”. He had just gotten used to the idea of being a Seeker when the second Beater was banned from playing for the rest of his last season. The Captain of the team at that time put Jake into the empty spot, moving up the reserve Seeker.
With each year at the school, Jake became more comfortable in his own skin. He was still shy and had a hard time being spontaneous with people outside of the team but Jake was improving. In his fourth year, the boy finally began dating and had a line of one-month relationships with Slytherin girls. He gave up on that house after the fourth girl and decided to hide from them for his own mental health.
While most people in his year were worried about starting their new year in NEWT classes, Jake was more worried about his position as team captain. He was not the strongest academically and still struggled in classes that were heavy in reading and writing, but he chose classes that would eliminate most of those issues. Most of his time was spent outdoors with Herbology, Astronomy and Care of Magical Creatures being three of his five classes. His spare time was spent practicing on the pitch or at the lake. Though his classes were not looking like they would pay off, he was sure it was not going to matter. His mind was dead set on going for firefighting once he graduated, as his whole family had.
The idea changed toward the end of the year when a letter came for him during the Easter break from the Wimbourne Wasps. Convinced that it was just a joke, he was not sure if he should respond. In the end he did and was given the choice to play for the team straight out of Hogwarts. He sent them a letter back saying he would have to wait to make a decision because he had another career in mind. As much as he wanted to be a firefighter, he knew that an invitation to the team at his age was rare, regardless of whom the team was.
Over his final summer holiday, Jake took basic college courses to better his speaking and writing ability. Some of his days were spent up at the firehouse but around August, Jake took a trip to Wimbourne to watch the team play. He was sure after those two weeks that it was what he wanted in to do upon graduation. It was not just the chance to play, but he enjoyed the relationship that the players had with each other.
Returning to Hogwarts for his final year with the knowledge of what he was doing did not stop him from working hard on his classes. He met a girl during the winter break when he was home visiting family that he started dating named Angelina Texieira. She was a Muggle, which meant he had to keep the type of school he was attending to a bland boarding school title. He returned to Hogwarts to find another request from the Tornadoes, who offered a larger starting salary, but Jake turned them down.
Upon graduating, he moved in with his parents until he had the money to afford a flat of his own. He continued his relationship with Angelina and would have to make a variety of excuses as to why he would be gone for days at a time. Despite her obvious frustration, she never pushed for more information. After two years together, Jake had made the choice to tie the knot with her and propose. Three days before his intended date to propose, Angelina found an article from Witch Weekly about the team. She left him for being a wizard, thus spinning him into a wild few months.
Despite his teammates tries and Liam O’Neil’s bugging, he spent most of his nights out drinking and partying. On multiple occasions he would find himself in various hotels across the country and not quite sure how he had gotten there. Not long after, he bought a house in Surrey and shared the property with Jamiel Brown from the Wasps and Liam. Once he had his own place, the random visits to tourist locations ended and he found people in his bed that he couldn’t quite remember their name. Much to his dismay, a frequent of his room was Tamora Grey.
Knowing their son was not doing well, Monica and Edgar took the man on a one-month vacation to Brazil where he could escape England for a while. It was a break that he needed, but a decision he made was something not too many people would have seen coming. While in Ecuador with his cousins Flavia, Emanuel, Jonas and Mana, he went to an orphanage and met an infant with the initials M.M. She was an 11-month old child from the local area who lost her parents in an accident. After a few days of returning to visit M.M., Jake decided to take her home with him. The paperwork was a lot more extensive than he had wanted but after multiple international trips over three months, Marguerite Monica Darney made her first trip to England.
With an infant around, what wild stage the man had been through sharply ended he started spending more time at the house instead of at clubs. Luckily for the young man, Liam and Jamiel were there to help him out, as well as the rest of the team. The addition to the family made his mother excited. For the first two years, Maggie could only speak in Portuguese, much like Jake had. Knowing that would cause issues as she got older, he was slowly breaking English into her vocabulary.

| Looks |
Jacob has grown to look more like his father after he turned 18. he has the longer face with the bigger nose. he still has his mother's complexion and hair with the freckles here and there. He has narrow blue eyes with heavy eyebrows. A new addiction to these eyes is a mischievous glint that came once he joined the team. His smile is still charming and perfectly straight with dimples on the side.
Like his father, he is tall with a muscular build; however he now stands almost six and a half feet tall and almost two hundred pounds of muscle from working out all the time. His shoulders look less awkward since his body grew into itself with more mass and build.
His style has changed after Hogwarts. His hair is grown out and usually straightened so it's easier to manage after getting off his broom. He wears baggier jeans, loose tighter, dark colored shirts and track jackets or a leather jacket. He wears plain black sneakers or white ones. |
| Personality |
Whether it was being a father for two years or the Quidditch team, something caused Jake's personality to do a one-eighty. He is a lot more open and free spirited with life. He is still the fiercely loyal and honest to a fault. He feels his friends and daughter are the most important thing in his life. He places those parts of his family above his career and his money. When it comes to Marguerite, Jake is extremely proud of saying that she is his little girl. He brought her up in a very Brazilian-Portuguese style; Portuguese was her first language and English is the one she is learning now. It took him a while to learn how to ignore the papers that insist that the baby is not adopted but from he and some girl on a fling.
Though Jacob may have been able to open up, he still has a lot of his morals that were taught to him as a young boy. He is still proudly religious and keeps to the teachings as best he can. Yet that dark side of keeping some things in still haunts the back of the boy's mind. He tends to hide his emotions towards women that are not related or Marguerite even though he knows that Maggie needs a mother. His ability to trust has gotten worse after being sold out to different papers for a good amount of pay-off money.
That trust was put to the test when he opened his house to an ex-girlfriend Tamora Grey (or he told her that she was moving in). He realized that it may have been a bad idea after a month of Tamora living in his house along with Liam O'Neil, Jamiel Brown (fellow Wasps) and his six-year old daughter. |
