Al has always been slightly smaller, his growth spurt having eluded him until his fifth year. Standing at 175 cm (~5'9'') and of average frame, his habit of missing meals during long hours in various R&D gives him a thinness that would appear slightly reedy on someone taller. Fortunately, the knobbly-knees and gawk that accompanied that slimness in his youth have faded with maturity, his gait settling into a comfortably brisk pace, despite a slightly hunched carriage. Al generally keeps his black hair short, somewhere between a finger- and hand-length, as it tends to stick up in the back if left to grow longer. Even so, he has to fight it occasionally to keep it from complete disarray, and after those long hours it can take a life of its own, coming to resemble a rather bedraggled crow. The trait he treasures most is the color of his eyes - he was the only one of the family to inherit his father and grandmother's vivid green pupils - but he doesn't seem to realize that his naturally penetrating gaze has the habit of unnerving those he scrutinizes too closely. On rare occasions when he uses the Patronus charm, it takes the form of a pine marten. |
