Notes: "I vaguely recall the first time I was introduced to Sam - she had just been Sorted and slid into the seat adjacent to mine and asked ever so politely for the pumpkin cider. Since then she has been somewhat of a 'little sister' figure, and we often sent owls back and forth after my graduation. She's lovely and thoughtful, and I have to admit that when I initially learned of her decision to pursue a career as an Unspeakable, I was torn. On the one hand, the demands of being an Unspeakable could certainly test her patience and sanity; on the other, I can't think of a more appropriate choice than Sam for the job. She was among the first visitors in my St. Mungo's room after the incident, and I'll always appreciate her friendship."

Always thinking of the next idea or challenge, she was a quiet leader amongst the academic set in Ravenclaw, and the school as a whole. Her research papers and practical magical work were always of a high order, and she also crossed House boundaries well, maintaining friendships with a number of students, forming an effective bridge to help enhance the collective spirit of the school. "Sam and I haven't seen each other in a while. We… we go back a few years, but our timing wasn't quite right. We dated at school for a few years and things were really good. I went to Mungo's for training and that put some strain on it because she was still at school, but we made it work. When she graduated, I was thrilled - not only had she done really well, but there was promise in the future. And then she disappeared - she had her own future that she wanted to pursue. I can't honestly say it didn't hurt at the time, but looking back on it… well, I can't blame her. I did the same thing while she was gone. I found something I could commit to and made my own disappearance. Not that I thought of it like that; it was just something I had to do to keep myself afloat. By the time I realized how foolish I was, and how much stronger I could have been, well… it was too late. After all, when you don't say goodbye, it makes it hard to say welcome back.

I don't really know where we stand anymore. We seem to have lost each other in the fruition of our own goals. I don't even really know what I want or expect from her - or how I would act if I saw her. At the least, I hope we can converse in the way we used to, before all this. Even if it's only as friends."
