THERECORD says ► It started with a potion. Though Aurelia has always been tops in potions, her secret crush on Darren and desire to spend more time with him led her to enlist him with an extra credit assignment that turned out almost disastrous. They managed through it all, and formed a friendship that to this day hasn't faultered. The two are good for one another; Aurelia takes care of Darren when he's slacking off, and he reminds her what fun it is to get in trouble from time to time. The pair are as thick as theives, and since Aurelia has no real family, she holds Darren to be an older brother. Unknown to anyone, while Aurelia and Hugh were on the outs as far as their relationship went, Aurelia had Darren check in on Hugh from time to time secretly, to make sure he wasn't off getting himself killed.
AURELIA says ◄ "Oh Honeybear. I love Darren Liten. He is my best friend, my illegitimate brother, and one of the few I love with all my heart. He and I have a friendship so dear to me. I look after him, have healed him a time or two, and he takes care of my mental problems as best a single, unattached gentleman can. THERECORD says ► Chase and Darren, Darren and Chase. The two met their first year on the train ride to Hogwarts, sitting in the same compartment, chatting, and comparing spellwork - competitors from day one. With each year at Hogwarts their list of accomplishments grew, and each tried to best the other, from matching Prefect badges to Quidditch team positions, until the worst realization of all dawned on them at the start of their fifth year: they liked each other. Maybe even like liked each other. Their relationship at once blossomed and burned, with their ups taking them to the heights of happiness and their downs turning catastrophic. They finally broke up in the middle of their seventh year, having grown tired of each others' antics and fighting over the pettiest of squabbles, and lost touch shortly after they both enrolled in Auror training seven years ago. Now, they're picking up the pieces slowly, rediscovering each other and finding, to their pleasure and surprise, that they've matured and are quite a bit more comfortable in their newfound friendsh-- relationship-- er, whatever you want to call it. Darren's always been a solid, reliable source of comfort and reassurance in Chase's life, no matter how you cut it, and for that she'll always be grateful.
CHASE says ◄ "What more is there to say? We fought and loved our way through school and finally broke it off over our last year due to what we deemed were 'irreconcilable differences'. It certainly made parting ways much easier after graduation, and I thought it appropriate that our relationship ended when it did. So why is it that now, seven years after the fact and with absolutely no contact whatsoever, I finally recognize him for who he is - and can't get him out of my mind?"

THERECORD says ► It all started around the fateful Fifth Year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Until that year, Darren was just an upper classmen who was respected and admired by many, but known by few, and Hugh wasn’t one of them. His only contact was being soundly thrashed by Darren when the Hufflepuffs and Gryffindors met in a match. Once he was made Prefect in Year 5, Hugh was around Darren more by default, since the Gryffindor was also a Prefect, and a lot of things happened that year. In crisis after crisis, Darren and Hugh always seemed to be involved with the young ladies they cared about, and Hugh came to be one of those that admired him more than most, and knew him a little bit more. Hugh never felt a real competition with Darren, so instead he watched and learned. Today, they’ve had little contact in recent years, although Hugh’s travels have often taken him to places he might expect Darren to be. It’s always good to have a drink and a laugh, work together where possible for the Light, and hope that Darren will conquer his only fear – his affection for Chase Lang.
HUGH says ◄ " Darren and I always got along pretty well in school, and he was a good role model when I became Prefect. We had a friendly rivalry on the Quidditch field, where his team always played fair and fought fair, but it was sort of a second ring of social contact for us off the field. However, he was and remains a cherished friend to Aurelia, too, and I expect to see him more often now, or so it is to be hoped. He’s been a mystery to those that know him, since he’s been out on the fringes of the magical solar system for a long while. But gravity always pulls us back to where we belong, and the pretty planets we love so much. I wish him well for being a friend. I also can’t forget he holds Chase’s heart, too. He knows it, but like my own journey, he’ll have to make that for himself."

THERECORD says ► Darren and Aiden shared the Gryffindor common room for six years. Of course, with Aiden being the shy girl that she was in her earlier years, they didn't really know each other all that well. They spoke on occasion, but they weren't exactly friends. Aiden had a tiny crush on him for a month or so when she was a first year, but who didn't? One day, during Aiden's fifth year she was walking through the fifth floor corridor and bumped into Darren while he was taking care of some prank. Unfortunately, Aiden caused the bucket of green slime ot come crashing down on top of the prefect. For a while after that she tried to stay clear of the older teen, afraid that he was mad at her. He wasn't though, not really. Aiden hasn't seen or spoken to Darren since he graduated and honestly doesn't think about his very much.
AIDEN says ◄ "Wow... I haven't spoken to Darren in ages. Not that we spoke much during school. I was the quiet one, so we didn't really interact very often. Admitedly, I had a crush on him, but that was a looong time ago. Besides, pretty much everyone thought Darren was cute at one time or another. But yeah, we didn't ever become close or anything. Then there was that incident with the slime... And I kind of tried to stay out of his way after that. I mean, I'm sure he wouldn't be mad about it now if I saw him. But, I probably won't be seeing him anytime soon... Come to think of it, I dodn't even now what he's doing these days..."

THERECORD says ► They're far apart in age and social circle, and unlike a lot of girls, Darren wasn't really on her radar in school. However, she knew of him, and how he and Chase were an item even back then. They were one of the star couples, once they finally got over some of their reluctance. After Darren graduated, it was like Jake had been. She never saw him again, or had any idea what he was doing, although she knew he was overseas. The former Head Boy was off doing somethnig interesting. It wasn't until recently that he came back to England, for a difficult case. She heard a lot about him during the time she was helping the Aurors in a minor way, processing visas and so forth. He seemed about the same as at school, only older.
Jenn says ◄"I only knew Darren through other people, but he seemed like a nice, likeable and straightforward guy. He'd graduated by the time I became a Prefect so we never worked together. It took eight years for me to hear of him again, when the Asimov case was the top of the news. He was always a pretty serious guy, and the years seem to have made him more so. Hopefully he can re-kindle whatever he had with Chase, they could both use more friends. However, he's a good man, and I was happy to work with him."

THERECORD says ► In a strange twist of fate (or happenstance if you don't believe in that destiny stuff), Trevor and Darren shared a compartment on the Hogwarts Express their first year, where they bonded immediately. Both being sorted into Gryffindor only strengthened that friendship, and Trevor and Darren were thick as thieves for most of their Hogwarts careers. Simultaneously comrades and rivals (of the good-natured kind), they were well-known for most everything they did: Quidditch, Student Council, Dueling Club, even a few pranks here and there. They ran into a few hiccups in their camaraderie, most of the tension the result of one Chase Lang. First, when Trevor and she had a 'fling' (if a first-year crush can be called that), and then off and on while Darren and Chase underwent their tumultuous and tempestuous three-year love-spat. Despite the stormy end to the romance, Darren and Trevor remained friends at the end of their Hogwarts years. Unfortunately, circumstances took them in different directions, and it's been seven years since they've seen each other. Will an unexpected reunion let them pick up where they left off…?
TREVOR says ◄ "It's been ages since I've seen Darren- probably since Hogwarts graduation, now that I think about it. I remember receiving a letter or two from him from America, but I guess we sort of just grew apart. It's really too bad; we had some great times together in Hogwarts. Ha!- I remember one evening we were supposed to polish all the trophies in the trophy room as punishment for some prank, and Darren gets this brilliant idea to slip Mrs. Norris a bit of Puking Pastille embedded in a hunk of tuna. Filch was so surprised when his cat sicked up on his feet, he let us off before we'd even finished one medal. Haha, I don't know if he was really worried about the mangy critter, or just disgusted at the cat sick in his shoes and wanted to call it a night. Those were good times. Simpler. I wonder how he's doing…"

THERECORD says ► Preston Rostron attended Hogwarts 12 years ago, and was part of the Gryffindor House, but he knew of Darren Liten as one of his successors as Prefect. They didn't mix much in Preston's final year, but they knew each other through association with their house, and the fact that Darren was an up-and-coming star in the Gryffindor universe. Today, they've been reunited through some common work that spans the globe. His own work is quite different from darren's now, but he admires the mans' dedication, and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done; as well as his sheer bravery.
Preston says ◄ "Darren was in the duelling clubs at Hogwarts at a young age, and showed real ability even then. he could turn some of my classmates on their heads, and did so often. However, after my graduation, I went on to other forms of magical invention and Ministry service, and it wasn't until recently that I was re-acquainted with the man, mostly through Chase Lang. He's a talented Auror, and his experience outside the Ministry has made him stronger in his abilities. I hope we have the chance to work together more often."

THERECORD says ► Ty and Darren were never best friends, but they always did get along. They met in their first year just after the sorting ceremony, when all of the new little Gryffindors shuffled together in the hallway and stared openly at the elaborate school. Along with Trevor and James, they took the school by storm (read: tornado) and got into all sorts of trouble. It's a time that Ty looks back onto fondly, especially when considering their quidditch days together. The Slytherin team was in for it from the start! And while Darren left for the US years ago, Ty is excited to reconnect and try to fall back into an old routine ~~despite having slept with Darren's long time on and off love, Chase, while he was away~~. Some things are better left unsaid.
TY says ◄ "Darren left for a while, gone away to the States 'cross the pond. I know why he did, but that hardly makes up for the fact that he kept in such little contact with the rest of us. Regardless, I'm glad he's returned and honestly, while I know we're all adults and the dynamics will never be quite what they were back in Hogwarts, I really hope we can mend our group (at least a tad) and have some grand misadventures. Perhaps with less pizazz, but certainly no less fun. I do miss it and I did always like Darren, plus he's necessary to the team. Hope to see the bastard more! Hear me, Darren?"
